Ingredients:


1 lb ground lamb or beef
1/2 basmati rice (rinsed and drained)
3 tbsp split peas
1 cup crushed pomegranate seeds (or if prefer no seeds, use 1 cup pomegranate concentrated juice)
3 onions
1 cup chopped fresh parsley
½ cup chopped fresh mint leaves
1 cup chopped scallions
cooking oil
salt
black pepper


Directions:


Chop 2 onions And fry to golden
Add 4 cups water, split peas, salt and pepper and cook for 10 minutes over low heat
Add the rice and cook for 15 minutes
Grate 1 onion and mix with the meat, salt and pepper
Make meat balls and add to soup
Add the herbs and cook over medium heat for about 20 minutes
Add pomegranate and cook for 5 minutes
