Ingredients:


3 turnips cut to large cubes
½ lb ground lamb or beef
4 oz basmati rice
2 grated onions
2 oz split peas
1 cup chopped fresh mint leaves
½ tsp turmeric
Olive oil
Salt
Black pepper


Directions:


Soak peas in hot water for 1 hour
Mix ground meat, onion, salt and pepper
Make balls and fry in oil on all surfaces
Add 4 cups of hot water, add split peas and cook over medium heat for 15 minutes
Add turnip, rice, turmeric, salt and pepper
Lower heat and cook for 15 minutes
Serve with fried mint sprinkled on top
